Miss Molly, though a little overweight, is a handsome beast. Within the parameters of her species, one might add. Dogs and cats are lovely companions and so are steady friends. Pete and Toets are relations and such friends and when they invited us the other Sunday for a meal, we used the opportunity to capture a few angles of the alterations to their house in Hermanus, long overdue, and now finally in place.

Toetie (“2t”) and Colleen have a great love for food. Its beauty, presentation and sharing of it with friends. To anticipate, prepare and offer a meal for them is part of the celebration of life. Always and without exception.

Sally, the artist.
One of Pete’s latest creations.
Toetie handcrafts a range of clothes for little girls which she markets under the “Miss Molly” label.
A set of hand carved fishing boats signal calmness – the steadiness of going about one’s daily chores.

The cutest things imaginable.
Dick – Pete’s 95 year old father – retired pilot, founder of Basut Air, critical mind, razor sharp, witty and sometimes downright …
… and here his love for dainty, delicate things. A warm heart beneath the outer crust.
A look at oneself … how gracefully has one aged …?
Dividing walls were removed to let light in and create open airy spaces.
We spent one of those quiet easy-going Sunday afternoons and love the alterations to their house.
Pete and Toetie are both relentlessly creative people and a joy to be with.
With love as always from
Colleen & Walter
